HOW TO CLEAN A DAMP RID SPILL

We all love the benefits of using the Damp Rid line to eliminate those stubborn musty odors and leave our home with a fresh clean scent but occasionally accidents happen. Below you will find helpful steps to cleaning a Damp Rid spill.

  • First, use a clean dry towel to soak up the excess moisture from the area. Whether the surface is carpet, tile, wood, or linoleum. Don’t worry Damp Rid will wash out of your towels or clothing easily in your regular wash cycle.

  • Secondly, apply a generous amount of cold fresh tap water to the area. As you know from using any of our products, Damp Rid loves water. By saturating the area the Damp Rid will cling to the water, thus making it easier for the Damp Rid liquid to be drawn from the area.

  • If you are cleaning a hard surface such as wood, tile, or linoleum simply wipe the area; absorbing the water and Damp Rid together with a clean dry towel. If you are cleaning a carpet, fold the towel in half and apply pressure to the saturated area. Doing this will pull the Damp Rid as well as the water out of the carpet. You may need to repeat this process more than once depending on the thickness of the carpet and amount of Damp Rid spilled.

  •  After 24 hours, check the area again for dampness. If you feel an oily residue you will need to resaturate the area and towel dry it again until the oily residue is completely gone allowing a 24 hour drying time in between applications.

*To remove the Damp Rid from washable clothing, place clothing in a regular wash cycle to remove the residue. You may need to wash a second time depending on how saturated the piece of clothing may be.

*To remove Damp Rid from “dry clean only” clothing, apply water only to affected area and blot with dry terry towel. Take article to the dry cleaners as normal.
